Barney Frank Townhall Confrontation (Videos)

http://www.outsidethebeltway.com

Most Congress members conducting town hall meetings this month have chosen a noncombative posture to deal with angry participants who disrupt the proceedings. Not Rep. Barney Frank.

At a lively two-hour meeting Tuesday night in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Frank gave as good as he got in confronting opponents of overhauling the nation’s health care system.

The crowded hall had both supporters and detractors, but the opposing side was much louder and more raucous, booing the Massachusetts Democrat from the moment he was introduced and shouting questions and challenges at him throughout.

“You want me to talk about it or do you want to yell?” he asked over and over when interrupted while trying to answer. Continued shouting brought a sterner rebuke. “Disruption never helps your cause,” he said more than once. “It just looks like you’re afraid to have rational discussion.”

While Frank attempted to respond to all questions, he gave up when one woman compared health care proposals favored by Frank and President Obama to policies of Nazi Germany.

UBS Tax Fraud Probe Reaches 150 Americans, US Says

http://www.truthout.org

More than 150 UBS AG clients in the U.S. are under investigation for concealing income and assets offshore at the bank, a prosecutor said in a court filing.

The scope of the investigation was disclosed today in a memo recommending that former UBS banker Bradley Birkenfeld serve 30 months in prison for conspiring to help wealthy Americans evade taxes. Birkenfeld, who faces as long as five years, will be sentenced Aug. 21 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Birkenfeld, 44, pleaded guilty in June 2008 to conspiracy, saying he helped U.S. clients evade taxes through Zurich-based UBS. He seeks leniency for helping a worldwide tax-fraud probe. UBS agreed Feb. 18 to pay $780 million to avoid prosecution for helping wealthy Americans evade taxes. The bank gave account data on 250 clients to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.

"Ultimately, based upon information obtained from UBS as part of the deferred-prosecution agreement, the United States is criminally investigating more than 150 Americans across the country who are believed to have concealed income and assets at UBS, in violation of United States law," acting U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Sloman said in the filing.

I applaud the Swiss and U.S. governments for making this happen. I pay my taxes, sure I don't want to like anyone else but it is part of life and it is for the good of our country and your fellow citizens. These wealthy folk whom have more than most, the top 1-5% of the population are the scumbags who try every scheme or loophole their attorney/tax account can find. Now to be fair the loopholes were there so why not as it's legal or so it may have been at one time.

In this case it is blatant tax evasion for people who could more then afford it. As is with many Americans it is people living beyond their means and so they figure I want to live a certain way so I will get away with all these tax breaks by hiding money or fake accounts etc. No more, you folks should have been paying and will now pay like the rest of us.
