It has been 2 days since Newsweek unveiled its obviously sexist cover of Sarah Palin, and, no surprise, liberal feminists remain silent.

While RH Reality Check managed to spot a pro-life website calling Palin "rogue" on the life issue, it missed Newsweek's cover pick of a photo of Palin in running shorts, originally taken for the August 2009 issue of Runner's World magazine.

Incidentally, that photo was featured on RW's back page and was used by Newsweek without permission. (Watch for a lawsuit.) Here's a photo from the same shoot Newsweek passed by. Wonder why...
... but not feminists. While Ms magazine expressed concern about the shut down of prominent gay newspapers and the "fear of feminist nuns," it ignored what even Hollywood Gossip wondered: "Is Newsweek trying to sabotage her as a dope just because she's a conservative?"

Oh, Feministing did spotlight Palin, but only to "take down" her appearance on Oprah.

Sarah Palin tells Oprah about controversies, future

http://www.cnn.com

When Sarah Palin got a surprise phone call from the McCain campaign one August afternoon, asking whether she'd like to be on the Republican presidential ticket, the then-Alaska governor didn't doubt for a moment she was ready for the challenge.

"When I got the call, it was not such a shocking call to me," Palin told talk-show host Oprah Winfrey in a highly anticipated interview that aired Monday. "I felt quite confident in my abilities and my executive experience and I knew that this is an executive administrative job. I was happy to get in there and contribute."

Nor was Palin deterred by the fact she had five kids at home, including an infant with special needs.

"It never occurred to me that I couldn't do the job because of children," she said. "My children are my strength. ... They allow me to be grounded."

But what did shock Palin was just how much the campaign knew about her and her family before she even formally met with Sen. John McCain to discuss the job. Contrary to what was reported in the media, Palin said, she was extensively vetted, and the campaign knew exactly "who they were getting."

Highlights from the Sarah Palin interview

http://blogs.suntimes.com

Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's interview on today's edition of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" touched on all the topics, political and personal. Here's a run-down of the highlights:

Levi Johnston
As we saw in the teaser video for the interview, Palin insists that Johnston -- her daughter's ex-boyfriend and baby daddy -- is still "part of the family." But she was clear about her disapproval of his next career move: posing for Playgirl. "Some of the things he is doing is kind of heartbreaking," she said. Of Playgirl, she added, "I call that porn."

Our favorite bit: "I hear he goes by the name Ricky Hollywood now. ... He's quite busy with his media tours and he hasn't seen [his son] in a while."

As for Palin's claim that Johnston would still be invited for Thanksgiving dinner, Johnston himself doesn't buy it. Johnston said, through a Playgirl rep, that it was "a nice gesture but she didn't mean it," adding, "You could tell by her laugh she was full of it."

But Palin said she continues "to hope for the best, and pray for Levi."

Sarah Palin's interview on 'Oprah' takes aim at Katie Couric, Levi Johnston

http://www.examiner.com

Sarah Palin's much talked about interview on "Oprah" aired Monday and the former vice presidential candidate discussed the 2008 campaign, her daughter's pregnancy, and Levi Johnston.

On Levi, Palin admitted that she was disappointed in the father of her grandson, saying, "Some of the things that he is doing is kind of heartbreaking."

Palin also shared her feelings on Johnston's decision to appear in a photo spread in Playgirl, saying, "I call that porn." The Playgirl photo shoot features Johnston posing with a hockey stick, as the spread is being marketed as a "tribute to hockey moms."

Palin also criticized Katie Couric for the televised interviews that the former Alaska Governor feels cast her in a negative light.

"For people who only know me from that interview, I don't blame people for thinking I was ill-qualified," Palin said on "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

Sarah Palin was routinely mocked for her answers to Couric's questions. Even Tina Fey turned Palin's lack of assuredness into a running joke that eventually won her an Emmy. It was Couric's question about what news sources she reads, however, that continues to upset the former vice presidential candidate.
