http://www.quickpwn.com

iPhone hackers rejoice, this is the moment we have all been waiting for. Today is the day jailbreaking software has been made 100% legal. I hereby officially declare today Jailbreak Day, if you are on Twitter, please click here to tweet this (help #JailbreakDay TREND) also share/like on Facebook, and remember to follow @QuickPWN if you aren’t already. You can legally jailbreak iPhone 4G (no jailbreak available for this new phone yet), iPhone 3GS, and iPod touch. Now it was never ILLEGAL anyway, but Apple was trying to make it illegal. Thanks to the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) for sticking out for the iPhone hacking community, jailbreaking and unlocking any iPhone is completely legal. Don’t confuse this with the iPhone EULA (End user license agreement), jailbreaking still voids the warranty on your iPhone. For those that don’t know, see the full jailbreak page to find out what jailbreak is. You won’t be able to jailbreak the new iPhone 4 yet, but you can jailbreak the older iPhone. Just see our jailbreak iOS 4.0.1 post for more info if you are interested in jailbreaking.

IPhone Coming To Verizon In January

http://online.wsj.com

Apple Inc. (AAPL) will launch its popular iPhone with Verizon Wireless as early as January, according to a media report Tuesday, which cited unnamed sources as confirming that widely anticipated step. In a Bloomberg News report, two unnamed sources described as familiar with the plans were said to have confirmed that Apple would expand iPhone domestic availability to Verizon (VZ) early next year. The device has been available exclusively over AT&T's (T) networks in the U.S. since its launch three years ago. Wall Street analysts have widely expected a launch at Verizon at some point in 2011. Jeff Kvaal of Barclays Capital wrote in a research note Tuesday that the move would happen sometime in the first quarter. "We believe the iPhone would be a plus for Verizon, but not a significant industry change, given the relative stickiness of smart-phone customers, as the primary source of Verizon iPhone [subscriptions] would be pent-up demand by existing Verizon [subscribers]," he wrote. The iPhone has become the largest revenue segment for Apple, bypassing the company's Mac and iPod businesses.

iPhone on Verizon: 5 Reasons to Doubt the Latest Rumors

http://www.pcworld.com

ust when you thought it was over, the iPhone on Verizon rumor is back...this time with a claim the iPhone is coming to Verizon in January 2011. The fresh report comes courtesy of Bloomberg news, which cites two sources "familiar with the plans." This is odd timing for a new iPhone-Verizon rumor considering that Apple just announced the iPhone 4 had the most successful product launch in Apple's history, and Verizon just made a big deal over the upcoming launch of the Android-based Droid X. Why dampen customer enthusiasm for either device with a tired, old rumor that just refuses to die? That's just one of the many reasons, I'm wondering, yet again, how much truth there is to this reason. Here's another five things to consider before buying this rumor for the umpteenth time. Engadget recently dug up a court document where Apple appears to admit that it has a five-year exclusivity contract with AT&T for the iPhone expiring in 2012, not 2011. Yes, as has been noted before, AT&T's exclusivity contract could have been amended to shorten the deal in the wake of AT&T's well-publicized service issues.

Verizon Wireless Droid X Ad Takes a Stab at iPhone 4's Reception Issues

http://headsets.tmcnet.com

It seems that Verizon Wireless, the operator behind the “iDon’t” campaign for Motorola Droid, couldn’t resist taking another dig at Apple this week, this time in the form of a full-page ad in The New York Times. The ad, intended to promote the launch of the Droid X smartphone on July 15, appeared to mock Apple for its widely reported reception issues with the iPhone 4, Apple Insider observed. The ad paints a lovely, detailed picture of the Droid X, highlighting its 8-meg camera with dual-LED flash, 3G mobile hotspot connectivity and HDMI output, Macworld observed. And then – tah dah! -- the advertisement points out the all-important issue of reception. “Most importantly, it comes with a double antenna design,” the advertisement stated. “The kind that allows you to hold the phone any way you like and use it just about anywhere to make crystal clear calls.” The final two sentences are in boldface type: “You have a voice. And you deserve to be heard.” For those of us who’ve purchased, considered purchasing or simply fantasized about fetching the latest iPhone, reports of erratic wireless signal strength

Verizon iPhone future uncertain: Verizon attacks iPhone 4 in Droid X ad

http://moretechnews.com

Verizon is clearly not interested in iPhone 4 on its network. Some believe that Verizon would not have attacked iPhone 4 in that fashion it had any interest to carry the Apple’s iPhone 4 in the near future. Verizon, which is all set to launch Motorola Droid X on July 15, mocks iPhone 4 antenna issue in the Droid X advertisements. If the wireless service provider starts to offer iPhone 4 on its network then it will have difficult time in convincing its loyal users for iPhone 4 considering the series of attacks against the most popular smart-phone in the planet. Verizon Bosses told the employees during the rare meeting that the company is only interested in Adroid powered phones for now.

Verizon Openly Derides Apple’s iPhone 4 In Motorola Droid X Ad, Verizon iPhone Release Doubtfull

http://www.timesnewsline.com

Clearly iPhone 4’s weakness is Droid X’s gain. Verizon wireless seems to be trying to cash in on this as it published a full-page ad in the The New York Times to promote the launch of Motorola Droid X. In the ad, Verizon mocks the iPhone 4 reception problem. But what this says about the future of Verizon iPhone, is the point to ponder upon. If the rumors of Verizon iPhone 4 coming in early 2011 are true, then it does not seem right for Verizon to deride the very iPhone 4 which it will be selling next year. So does that mean Verizon iPhone is not a possibility next year? Wait and watch. Besides listing the Droid X features, Verizon’s Droid X advertisement talks about the reception with the device. “Most importantly, it comes with a double antenna design,” the advertisement reads. “The kind that allows you to hold the phone any way you like and use it just about anywhere to make crystal clear calls. You have a voice. And you deserve to be heard.” This is a direct reference to the iPhone 4 antenna issue, where users reported loss of signal strength when the device is held in the left hand or the hand covers the seam separating the gadget’s two perimeter radio antennas.
