Tyra Banks spotlighted the tapeworm diet. The diet which starts when you eat a tapeworm.

OK, you eat it as an egg, but still! Tapeworms can grow up to 50 feet long in your intestines. They attach to your intestine and, yes, consume some of the calories that you eat. Often, they cause no symptoms, but they can cause abdominal pain, diarrhea, and even, in rare cases, seizures.

To get rid of the tapeworm, you take a drug and then you poop out the giant dead worm.

The tapeworm diet, thankfully, is illegal in the United States. Shame on Tyra Banks for mentioning this disgusting and dangerous way to lose a few pounds without vigorously warning against it.

Try eating well and exercising instead. Please. It's better for the planet, certainly, but it's also...well, not completely insane.

With recent studies debating that weight loss has less to do with exercise, and is more about food, Tyra's revelation seems a timely bit of healthy advice.

Overall, I'm totally impressed with Tyra's take on getting fit — proclaiming the episode "Get Your Shape in Shape," she emphasizes the focus on individual body type, rather than on being skinny, and offers constructive tips for shaping up your shape — like making a decision to get healthy for yourself and keeping a food journal to monitor what you're eating.

'America’s Next Top Model': Tyra Banks loses weight, wins bet with staff

Tyra Banks is shedding more than her fake hair these days, she’s also shedding pounds.

This week on CNN's "Larry King Live," the "America's Next Top Model" host and exec producer described how she created a weight loss challenge with a group of friends, including "ANTM" staffers.

"We were sitting around a table and kind of trash talking,” Banks said. "And decided to do this challenge because we all love food. I trash talked so much where I had to win – and I did."

Banks' appearance since she quit modeling full time has been scrutinized in the media. Two years ago, she fought back in the pages of People after tabloids printed unflattering pictures of her in a bathing suit. She told King that she didn’t quite see her weight gain then. "When I told the world to kiss my fat ass, I didn't look at myself, even on television, and think that I was too big or, I don't know, it didn't connect."

Even slimmed down, Banks told King that it's not her body she has the problem with. "I always feel great when I don't have clothes on. But sometimes certain clothes, when I put them on and they don't fit the way that I would like them to, that's when I tend to get self-conscious."

Tyra Banks can’t attribute her recent weight loss of 30 pounds to just hard work. When she appeared on The View on April 26, Tyra showed Rosie O’Donnell her jiggle-free secret – Spanx!

(Tyra has admitted to wearing Spanx on 80 percent of her own talk show’s episodes).

“I’m trying to get rid of some of this in my booty so I don’t have to wear Spanx,” she said about the girdlelike undergarments. “But I’m not going to obsess.”

In fact, Tyra’s thighs have always been her weak spot. “She’s always focused on her thighs,” says her former trainer, Harry Hanson, of Hanson Fitness in NYC.

According to a celebrity trainer Jim Ryno, to get a body like Tyra’s one would need a 45-minute does of cardio every other day, starting with a five-minute warm-up on the treadmill.

To get the heart pumping and to burn fat, Ryno says to sprint for one minute and then walk for three minutes. Repeat the cycle 10 times and end with a short cooldown.
