Sarah Palin vs. Barack Obama: The approval gap silently shrinks to a few points

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com

Not that it matters politically because obviously she's a female Republican dunce and he's a male Democrat genius.

But Sarah Palin's poll numbers are strengthening.

And President Obama's are sliding.

Guess what? They're about to meet in the 40s.

Depending, of course, on which recent set of numbers you peruse and how the questions are phrased, 307 days into his allotted 1,461, the 44th president's approval rating among Americans has slid to 49% or 48%, showing no popularity bounce from his many happy trips, foreign and domestic.

Riding the wave of immense publicity and symbiotic media interest over her new book, "Going Rogue," and the accompanying promotional tour, Palin's favorable ratings are now at 43%, according to ABC. That's up from 40% in July.

One poll even gives her a 47% favorable.

Most recent media attention has focused on the 60% who say she's unqualified to become president. Her unfavorable rating is 52%, down from 53%, which still doesn't ignite a lot of optimism for Palin lovers.

Obama Did More Than Just Speak at Notre Dame

http://arkansasgopwing.blogspot.com

Mark Williams, Our Country Deserves Better: There's been a lot of press coverage about Barack Obama's speech at Notre Dame and the controversy surrounding the honorary degree bestowed upon Obama despite his pro-abortion stance. But there was more to the story about Obama's actions of the day. Before he returned to Washington, D.C. Obama headlined two fundraisers that netted more than $500,000 for Democratic congressional candidates who face tough re-election campaigns. Here's the report from the Associated Press: "Before returning to Washington, Obama started in Indianapolis for two fund raisers. About 40 people attended a $15,000 per couple Democratic National Committee event which raised between $300,000 and $400,000. About 650 people attended a second fundraiser for four Indiana Democratic congressmen. That dinner cost $250 - $500 per person." The message is clear, folks: Obama and the Democrats have already begun the campaign for the upcoming 2010 congressional elections and are determined to defeat you and I, and the conservative candidates we support.

Catholic Priest Shows Ignorance And Bigotry In Anti-President Obama Comments

http://sandygholston.blogspot.com

Rev. Frank Pavone, director of Priests for Life, told “FOX News Sunday” that the reason students and Catholic leaders are protesting Notre Dame’s decision to award an honorary degree to Obama is because they believe it’s the latest indication that the country is “trivializing abortion.” Pavone was reacting to a new Gallup poll that shows more Americans calling themselves “pro-life” than “pro-choice,” by 51-to-42 percent, for the first time since Gallup began asking the question in 1995. A recent FOX News poll also showed more people describing themselves as pro-life for the first time since 2004. “The nation is becoming more and more pro-life and they’re realizing that … abortion on demand throughout all nine months of pregnancy is just not where the American people are today, it’s not where they’ve ever been,” Pavone said. “The president’s position on this is in the minority.”

God damn the Cheerio man

http://www.heartlessandbrainless.com

The Obama administration warns the American people of the danger posed to them all by the unsubstantiated claims of Cheerios. In fact, Cheerios could pose a threat akin to that of drugs to the American people. ( H/t The Corner ). Dr Steven Sundloff, head of the FDA’s Center for Food Safety, said the action was “not to impugn Cheerios”, which he called “a product that can be part of a healthy diet”. But he said: “The packaging clearly carries a drug claim.”

Pelosi Lies Again; Comes Unglued During Press Conference on Waterboarding!

http://jdlong.wordpress.com

WASHINGTON- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has stepped up Democrats’ calls to form a torture “truth commission,” urging President Obama not to give immunity to anyone who illegally abused terror thugs. Pelosi on Wednesday seized on Obama’s openness to prosecuting top Bush administration lawyers who formulated policies to strip, slap, shove and waterboard detainees said to be among Al Qaeda’s worst in U.S. custody after 9/11.
“It gives further impetus among members to have some kind of truth commission as to what happened,” Pelosi said. “I do not think immunity should be granted to everyone in a blanket way,” she added. Complicating matters was the disclosure that the CIA used waterboarding – which simulates drowning – on 9/11 mastermind Khalid Shaikh Mohammed 183 times. But ex-CIA Director Michael Hayden claimed at a congressional hearing last year that the practice ceased within a week of Mohammed’s March 1, 2003, capture. CIA officials could not explain the seeming discrepancy.

If Obama prayed for the National Day of Prayer what would he say?

http://conservativelikenoother.blogspot.com

I have been reading through the many blogs and articles of Christians upset that Obama will not be taking part in the National Day of Prayer Observance and find it quiet odd that many are upset by his decision. Why would President Obama have any interest in praying to God? Everything that God holds dear Obama holds in contempt. So I thought what, would he say anyway? How would he pray for God to bless and protect this nation when in from of the world he totally rejected God? In an excerpt taking from an article on the Huffington Post, Obama said this about America:
"One of the great strengths of the United States," the President said, "is ... we have a very large Christian population -- we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves

Activists to Prod Obama, Congress to Overturn 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'

http://www.foxnews.com

President Obama says he wants to reverse "Don't Ask Don't Tell," the Clinton-era policy that prevents openly gay men and women from serving in the military. But so far the White House has been noncommittal about how and when he will try to make that happen. In an effort to prod the president and Congress to act, activists -- gay, straight, military and civilian -- will converge on Capitol Hill Friday to rally behind an effort in the House to overturn the policy, which has been a continuing source of controversy since it became law 15 years ago.

FBI searches office of Obama tech pick

http://washingtontimes.com

Federal agents Thursday morning raided the former offices of President Barack Obama's pick for federal chief information officer and have arrested a D.C. employee and another man in connection with a corruption investigation. FBI spokeswoman Lindsay Godwin confirmed that Yusuf Acar, an employee in the D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO), and Sushil Bansal, the chief executive officer of a D.C.-based information technology consulting company, have been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation.

Obama Names SPD Chief Nation's New Drug Czar

http://seattlest.com

This morning, the president announced that Seattle Chief of Police Gil Kerlikowske is his pick for the nation's new Drug Czar. That means a local will direct national drug policy, though the position will no longer be Cabinet-level. (Curiously enough, Vice President Biden coined the phrase "drug czar" in the first place.) As the Washington Post notes in a blog post about the announcement, Kerlikowske's appointment to the position was delayed because of his stepson's legal problems--Jeffrey Kerlikowske was arrested recently for violating parole from his drug and assault charges in Florida.

Abortion, not resume, could dominate Sebelius confirmation

http://www.cnn.com

Analysts suspected that Obama would face a battle over abortion if and when he makes a nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court, but religious conservatives could use Sebelius as a warm-up for the seemingly inevitable fight. Calling Sebelius an "enemy of the unborn," Catholic League President Bill Donohue said the Kansas governor's nomination is particularly disturbing because the health and human services secretary is one of the few members of the administration who can directly affect abortion policy. "Sebelius' support for abortion is so far off the charts that she has been publicly criticized by the last three archbishops of Kansas City," Donohue said in a statement.

Obama's agenda: One of the 'greatest political dramas'?

http://www.cnn.com

Democratic strategist Lisa Caputo said so far, Obama is taking the right steps to revive the economy, but the country needs to see his plans put into action. He's already passed a massive stimulus bill, and he has a housing bill and a banking regulatory reform bill in the works. "He's doing all the right things. Hopefully he'll come forth with a balanced budget.

Obama budget to spark fight in U.S. Congress

http://uk.reuters.com

Obama, elected last November in part on a promise to foster fiscal responsibility, has seen Washington push through almost $1.5 trillion in emergency spending since October to fight a 14-month recession and a spreading global credit crisis. He says the spending binge is crucial to head off an even bigger economic disaster.

Obama's challenge tonight: answer CNBC's Rick Santelli

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com

The CNBC reporter and former derivatives trader issued a tirade on the air last week against Obama's $75-billion home mortgage reform plan. When he ranted on the air that "the government is promoting bad behavior" by bailing out "the losers" who took out irresponsible mortgages and accused the Obama administration of turning America into Cuba, Santelli unleashed a spontaneous explosion of anger.

Common sense missing in Obama bailout

http://www.miamiherald.com

There's a reason that English is the most widely spoken language on the planet: It's the most highly adaptable, capable of evolving to meet new needs in the blink of an eye. For example: Just last year, offering mortgages at a cheaper-than-market teaser interest rate with little or no money down was known as ''predatory lending.
