As Jets' Mark Sanchez wins games and cheers, questions increase for Browns' Mangini:

http://www.cleveland.com

Eric Mangini says he thoroughly scouted Southern California's Mark Sanchez and didn't comment on any regrets on the Jets rookie's fast start in the NFL.BALTIMORE, Md. -- In New York, they're calling rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez "San-chise" because he's their franchise player now. Sanchez is 2-0 with a 91.3 passer rating after knocking off Houston and New England in his first two NFL games.

In Cleveland, Eric Mangini's Browns haven't scored a meaningful touchdown in two games with Brady Quinn as his starting quarterback.

Mangini not only bypassed taking Sanchez with the fifth overall pick in the April draft. He hand-delivered him to the Jets, his former team, in a trade.

The Browns received three Jets players -- defensive end Kenyon Coleman, safety Abram Elam and quarterback Brett Ratliff -- plus the Jets' first- and second-round draft picks.

Bears lose injured Urlacher for season

http://sports.espn.go.com

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a dislocated right wrist -- a major blow for a team with high expectations.

Team spokesman Jim Christman confirmed a Chicago Tribune report, saying, "Brian did have surgery this morning and he is out for the remainder of the season." Urlacher had said in a text message to the newspaper that his "season is over."
Urlacher apparently was injured in the first quarter of Sunday night's 21-15 loss at Green Bay making a tackle on Packers running back Ryan Grant. He left on the Packers' first drive of the second half.

Urlacher, a six-time Pro Bowl player, had started 49 consecutive games in his 10-year career and has missed a total of seven games -- all in 2004 with a hamstring injury.

The Bears have been in contact with free-agent linebacker Derrick Brooks to fill the void left by Urlacher's injury, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, and it's possible the Bears could sign Brooks as early as Monday.

SERENA FINED $10,000 FOR HER OUTBURST

http://hooplink.blogspot.com

I think it was uncalled for, although the game was highly fought by the two ladies, intensities are at a high level. But she should not have given to her emotion's. There are plenty of kids and players that look up to her.

Serena Williams’ US Open title defense ended in bizarre, ugly fashion Saturday night, when she was penalized a point on match point after yelling and shaking her racket in the direction of an official who called a foot fault.

Williams lost to unseeded, unranked Kim Clijsters of Belgium, 6-4, 7-5, in a taut semifinal.

US Open tournament referee Brian Earley said in a statement Sunday that Williams has been levied the maximum possible fine for unsportsmanlike conduct, $10,000, plus a $500-fine for racquet abuse.

The fine is a mere pittance, even at maximum strength, since Williams received 375,000-dollar for her semifinal run at Flushing Meadows, her matches among the top drawing cards for ticket buyers and television viewers.

US television commentator Pam Shriver called for 11-time Grand Slam champion Williams to apologize for threatening the woman who called a foot fault upon the reigning champion to give Clijsters two match points.
