iPhone Math: RPG + (Match 3) = Puzzle Quest

What do you get when you combine he best parts of an old school RPG with the best parts of a Match 3 puzzle game? You’ll get an extremely frustrating, but crazy-fun game like Puzzle Quest. Puzzle Quest is a great game that originally was released on the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP. It’s done so well on those systems, that it’s been brought over to the iPhone. I played the DS version (and really loved it), so I must say that this is a great conversion. The concept of Puzzle Quest is based around the Match 3 puzzle (think Bejeweled). All combat is handled with this puzzle system. As you match the jewels of each color, you get mana from them to cast magical spells (1 mana per jewel). You also match purple virus-looking things for extra experience points, and piles of gold coins for more money from the battle. Most importantly, you match skulls to do damage to your opponent. The magic spells are where the strengths come in. For example, a Rouge comes with a spell called Sneak Attack. It costs 5 green and 5 blue mana, and does 3 damage to your opponent without ending your turn. Those can add up! Another is the one that knights come with: Thrust.
